Arknights story is fucking dogshit. Only event worthwhile reading was the Rainbow Six one, and probably because Chinese didn't write that one.
The game itself is too repetitive. Always the same enemy units with little variation. And the new mechanics are hit or miss. Like the horrible stun mechanic from the giant flowers. Always the same few bosses repeated over and over, except the rare one during some event.
New players will have a hard time, even more because it works on gacha banners. Old players get bored.
