As far as I know, Melina is very connected to the Black Knife Assassins - she uses the exact same move set as them if you summon her for Morgott fight. She also has a "purpose" given by her "mother in the tree" but not once she directly states that Queen Marika is her mother. We know that in the tree is only Marika=Radagon and Elden Ring/Beast. I currently think that Melina is a daughter of pre-godhood Marika since she said that she is around for a long time. It would also connect Marika to Black Knife Assassins even more.
