Get bombarded with new weapons and equipment all the time

>get bombarded with new weapons and equipment all the time
>it's pointless to use any of them because you've already invested a shit ton of stones into the weapon that you had from the start
this game has dogshit progression system, you can't refute this

Yeah pretty much. And you can't really tell if you like a new weapon cause the damage is so shit since its lvl 1.You can get unlimited stones when you get the smithing bells though but by then you've pretty much found the weapon you like.

Some weapons have better light combos. Some have dogshit heavy combos.
Find one that matches what you want to accomplish and farm the stones.

You get more than enough upgrade materials to upgrade many weapons to full, user

By the time I finished I had 4 or 5 at full upgrade level, and still plenty of stones left. Stop sweating it.

This is my issue with all souls games. You basically have to stick to 1 weapon because you cant waste your stones. Elden ring at least has a vendor and ashes but in other souls games where theres a limited amount per run really sucks ass

That is why I farm and look up online which caves give me the smithing stone bell bearings, just to use other weapons I have before blowing through the game with the same gear.

Get the bell bearings that let you buy unlimited smithing stones

And this is how you tell everyone you're new without directly saying so

It would help if they didn't make weapons go up to +25 and make the upgrade items confusing as fuck for people who have actually played souls games. This is the first souls-like that I've actually had to use a wiki for because upgrading your char is such a grindy chore. Inb4 fromdrones start bitching at me because it's apparently stellar game design to make every weapon completely fucking useless until you've found enough shards to upgrade it

True

I had the same problem during the first and the second day of release.
Bell bearing for +6 normal should have been given to the player much sooner.
Why not let the player experiment in the beginning? Very dumb design decision.

Half the bell bearings are in fucking azula, it's shit design

Every souls games sell infinite titanite
The only thing not sold are titanite slabs. But you can farm them in some games

>not massacring all the mobs futher down the slope near this bonfire

it's like 50k per 10s with no resource investment, farmed soo many weapons to near max level

>a fully upgraded standard weapon costs 480,000 runes and requires 289 stones
Yeah, nah. Gonna stick to the weapon I already dumped 300k runes into. Thanks.
Oh, is that a cool new weapon?
Nah. Can't afford it.

Shit game design.

You can get there extremely early, to the point where killing those enemies is impossible. Killing the bird is always possible

It's actually far better in the souls games because your weapon usually only goes up to +15 at most (some capping at +5). The level design is also linear which means you can find the upgrades you need while actually progressing the game without having to wander around wastelands and chalice dungeons for 3 hours looking/grinding for them

>Half the bell bearings are in fucking azula
There's literally only three smithing stone bell bearings (out of nine) in Azula, for the very last tiers.

Or you can just buy upgrade materials.

>"just grind!"

yeah this annoys the hell out of me and by the time I find a bell bearing its for the stones 8 tiers below what I need

How are you even supposed to farm upgrade materials? Do they respawn? Do any enemies drop them? I remember in DaS1 you could reliably farm them by killing certain enemies

There's 3 different ones at least there

Yes?
It's an ARPG, if you want to waste time upgrading all your different flavour of R1 to +25 it's on you, not the game.

What grind? You get runes by killing anything at all.

>help I can't play the game unless it tells me how to do everything

Can you read?
Do you need subtitles?

first souls game? i dont understand how people can complain about this shit like they didnt know it would be like this. i bet you would cry about random encounters existing at all in a jrpg.

Tell me about it.
I rolled STR and lost the interest in exploring after Limgrave because I rarely got any usable gear out of it.
