Men play both single player and multiplayer games. Both modes can be competitive, but also contain elements of exploration, craft, etc. Females only play games as a social activity, that’s why gamer girl only became a meme when gaming went mainstream around 2010’s. Almost every female player in wow circa 2004-2008 I met was a gf/wife of another player. They also slept and cheated with guild members like it was a proto-tinder.
