I liked all 3 stalker games I played. The jank put it over. I wish they could all be remastered with achievements so I would have an excuse to play through them again. Sucks about the new stalker game but who knows if it would have been any good. I doubt we'll ever see it.

I can understand why normalfag gamers wouldn't like STALKER. Its a janky, buggy mess that sort of just throws you into it all. Its story is non-existent, there aren't really any neat characters to meet and do things for/with, and the community has some weird fascination with making people play on Master by outright lying to new players.

Personally, I felt it had the right balance of choosing weapons and gear for your style of play, having enemies compelling enough to fight or avoid, and looting stuff. I like that it doesn't waste my time with crafting. I don't mind the jank. And the story that does exist is right at the level that gives reason to why I'm doing something but it doesn't end up wasting my time as I have to read poorly translated shit. I don't think this game is for everyone and I'm fine with that.
