Western games are grindier. Most of the more prominent western games are saddled with tons of irrelevant side shit to keep you occupied and prevent you from beating the game too quickly. Japanese games have this too but not to the same degree. Look at the AAA Spider-Man game for the PS4. It's full of repetitive bullshit.
