3D platformers were the Ubisoft-style open world games of the late 90s/early 00s. They were all mediocre, uninspired games with thoughtless level design, an overabundance of meaningless collectables to pad things out, and the same barebones double jump platforming+basic attack and adventure game-lite "puzzles" because actual game design was clearly less important to the devs than making an interactive cartoon and marketable mascot.
