I mean the game might have been a mess but it still sold gangbusters. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was able to pitch "Cyberpunk 2077 but not a mess" and Square went with it. The hype and interest around it leading up to release is more important than how the actual game turned out. They can sell us the idea of a good deus ex easily now that they know the interest is there.

SE ruined MD by commandeering it and injecting woke marketing, microtransactions, and game modes no one asked for. A game that had a lot of potential was limited in its resources. development was distracted from delivering the core game.
