It didn't bomb as such Any Forums refuses to talk about it.

What went right:
>adding basic stuff that any other game has

What went wrong:
>taking away your videogames because of politics

As people who forced themselves to play this at launch pointed out
This game biggest issue was never technical.
To make it good they would have to rewrite entire plot

Broken promises
Shitty story
Shitty characters
Shitty romance options
Shitty weapons
Awful outfits
No roleplaying

And most importantly the game is homophobic garbage.
But V is cute, CUTE!

They overpromised and underdelivered.
People who didn't play Witcher 3 expected GTA elements.
People who did play Witcher 3 likely weren't surprised by the game at all.
CP2077 has threading issues that lead to object permanence issues.
Gameplay scale is funky and turns enemies into bullet sponges until you reach critical mass around level 20-25 and start deleting everything.
Main quest is the weakest story in the game.

they tried to do a GTA-level scale world and failed. they should have done like 3 districts of the mega city and fleshed them out instead of what we ended up with.

We trusted poles and one should never trust poles.

>they should have done like 3 districts of the mega city and fleshed them out instead of what we ended up with
Honestly this more than anything else.
This obsession with open world is pure fucking cancer

their workforce got california'd

>what went wrong?
Hmm? The game's great, i'm just waiting for DLC.

No Idea, never bought it.

Nobody cares. Even if CP2077 was now the game they promised it would be (it is not, and never will be), they lied and broke peoples trust, hard to come back from that.

>open world is pure fucking cancer

Cringe. Dunno what's with the sudden open world hate. I guess since reddit loves it you guys feel as contrarians that you have to hate it? There's nothing more immersive and beautiful than open world, even if the world is empty it's good to know you can go anywhere you want rather than having loading screen after loading screen every time you switch of alley.

>hard to come back from that.

Uh doesn't EA lie like crazy and people still buy their games? Isn't every single Fifa a remake of the previous one but with one extra new player and better graphics?

too little representation

Completely disagree. If the open world is just set dressing, then why not make a linear game? There's absolutely 0 point in making a game open world if said game doesn't take advantage of it. The open-world in Cyberpunk is LITERALLY set-dressing, there's very little to do in the world, even if it looks pretty. Still an enjoyable game (~75 hours), but don't act like the open world is anything special.

>they're still wasting time on this shit
just move on lol

>Cringe
stopped reading right here
if you want anybody to take your seriously talk like a fucking human instead of a zoomerzogbot

>There's nothing more immersive and beautiful than open world
>immersive
doesn't exist in video games
>beautiful
copied and pasted assets aren't "beautiful"

Linear is superior because the developer knows what toolkit the player has and can designed gameplay around that.

What if the devs just want you to have fun so they don't care about balancing the game?

holding w isn't fun

it's half an RPG, half an action game, and it's not very good at either
the only thing it has going for it is its presentation and story, but your immersion is destroyed the moment someone pours a glass of whiskey for you with a bottle that's floating 3 feet away from their hand

What if they have a very fun and engaging movement system instead? It doesn't have to be just running around with W, you know.
