Opened the portal to Zereth Mortis, nothing more.

Not that it actually mattered because decades, or centuries, before the events of Shadowlands a bunch of Brokers managed to figure out how to portal themselves in the regular way. And apparently at some point in the past the Jailer himself was able to just straight up rip a chunk of the place out and drag it into the Maw.

So really didn't need those sigils at all if we're being honest

Better asspull of a villain coming through.

• Zereth is a Hebrew name found in the Tanakh (צֶרֶת) translated as meaning perplexity or splendor depending on possible root word, as well as a unit of measurement (זרת). Mortis means "of death" in Latin.
• When designing Zereth Mortis, the artists wanted the zone to look as unique and alien as possible and looked at "a lot of real-life examples of very strange places in the real world" for inspiration. They included a lot of water in the zone since "water is really the catalyst for any kind of creation".[1]
• Zereth Mortis is thematically similar to Mortis from Star Wars and Ulnar from Blizzard's StarCraft franchise. Both Zereth Mortis and Ulnar are described as locations that should not be able to exist according to the laws of physics of their respective universes.

>Not that it actually mattered
None of it mattered. The whole story leading up to it was nothing. If he's so unstoppable that he can just take the sigils whenever he wants and we just have to watch, why Shadowlands? Why anything? Who cares?

And if we're a threat to him (obviously we are if we dies in the raid) why didn't he just step on us, y'know since he's a 90 foot-tall super Satan that cannot be stopped by all the covenants put together (pre-raid)?

Making an unstoppable hyper-powerful super villain that says creepy things is low-effort and sophomoric. A teenager could have created the Jailer, he's not interesting nor does he have a motivation. Tying him into the older games is just insulting.

Imagine how much human male paladin cum she gulped after being defeated during the Stromgarde warfront

is Mathias gay or what happiness is he trying to find?

he shacked up with Flynn Fairwind

Pretty much sums up wow lore in general. And there is no real way around this when you need to drag out a new big bad every 2 years to sell a new expansion.
