maybe

Dunno OP. I just started, haven't even found the leveling NPC yet but I feel like I have no idea about crucial things in this game. For example, I took the Samurai class, but I also want to wear fat 2 hand swords. Is it possible? I have hno fucking IDEA.

Yes, it really is. Checkpoints are a lot more common, lots of tools and spells that make fights easier, such as summoning ashes, it’s much easier to grind levels to overlevel, no penalty for dying other than losing your runes

The early game is yes, you can explore more and eventually become strong enough to dab on everything
The lategame bosses absolutely obliterate anything From has done before though, they are insanely bullshit

WAY more.

Yes, primarily because the game is designed around the idea of doing side content until you reach a high enough level to complete main story content, as opposed to just mindlessly grinding the same hallway.
There's also stuff like ashes to facilitate solo play, a more generous stamina system than some other entries, and highly customizable weapons for any build.
Still, Demon's Souls is probably the easiest game if you're struggling

It is, but only if you decide to use summons and figure out how to upgrade your weapons/assign arts. If not, then it's just as "esoteric" for the average joe as any Souls game lmao

It's more accessible in the fact that essentially every build works, you can start with any build and figure out your next steps right away, and your walls are really, really far spaced out between all of the side content and the next areas. You have an exceptionally large amount of time to level, gear up, upgrade, gain new resources, craft, etc. before you need to battle mandatory bosses. You can get a +6 Hand Balista before fighting Margit and shoot him in the ass while your summoned sorcerer AND jellyfish play tank. It's the easiest to interface with in the series, being SLIGHTLY more easy to get your way started in than Dark Souls 2, but as others have said, the middle game amps up to the endgame of most other From Fantasy games, and the endgame is some of the most brutal shit they have ever put together.

I completed DS3, was filtered by Sekiro
I think it's pretty easy. The open world format means leveling up to beat a specific boss is way less grindy than in DS

Yes
You can summon a pet ghost to distract bosses
Bonfires are plentiful
There's no other penalty for dying than the loss of your souls
You can't get invaded solo unless you chose to
You can't get stuck because there's always so much to do elsewhere, meaning you can always come back later

Mechanically, the boss are just as hard if not harder than DaS 3 but with the many options to make the game easier, it's a lot more accessible, it's just up to you whether or not you want to take advantage of these.

Friede was as hard as they could possibly make a boss while still having her be "fair."

fromsoft games are only hard if you consider dying a fail state, instead of part of the intended experience

Also, how potato friendly is it? I've got a 970 and 12 gigs of ram, those minimum requirements have me sweating

It's an IQ filter rather than a skill filter now.

I beat DS1/DS3 at SL1 and defeated all bosses in Sekiro. No matter how many attempts it took (I don't think I've needed more than 25 attempts), I was ready to go back and get my ass kicked again, because 90% of my deaths felt earned and fair. When I had fully learned the moveset, I would usually win by a wide margin. This is not the case in Elden Ring. Most of the bosses are just full of anti-fun cancer with inconsistent rules. I usually just end up using a greatshield and mimic after 4+ tries because I have no interest in trying harder.

I have the minimum recommended GFX and my CPU is underpowered
shit crashes constantly, almost game breaking if it wasn't otherwise so fucking good

It is by far the most accessible souls game and they did it in a way that isn't detrimental to the experience.

The biggest changes in this regard are the fact that 99% of bosses have a spawn right next to them and you are given an NPC to summon if you so desire.

A lot of the frustration of souls was taken out.

Yes but people are still getting filtered left and right

I think it's the hardest one.

Definitely yes.
Try the summons

pretty much

Yes, my wife has never played a Dark Souls and is up to the second legacy dungeon. Normally she plays FFXIV

This is the hardest game they've released
You can still learn
Just don't come in expecting to be good like Any Forums then seethe when you die

There are easier ways to play ER just like with the rest of the games

I'd say the game's harder at a baseline but it has way more stuff to help mitigate it like the new summons you can do, checkpoints by 90% of boss rooms, and the simple fact you can just wander elsewhere to level up and get new gear.
