Which one is correct?

Nintendo did it first, xbox change it to avoid lawsuits

Yeah, I wonder which is correct. The layout that's been in use since 1990, or the faggy one.

I prefer A at the bottom

gamecube got it right tho, why didn't anybody rip off the gamecube controller?

i like the 8bit do's approach with nothing on the buttons, just printed on the side. so they can be anything.
but between those 2, the xbox.

bottom face button placement is more comfortable so should be used to confirm things so it is easier to press, and it should also be A since it is a more primary letter
even for jumping it should be on the bottom face button because it is vertically aligned and so is the A button on the xbox controller, and A is much better for jumping

Why is the white one smaller?

xbox makes more sense and is color coded so it's extra retard-proof

xbox makes more sense to me

They're both correct as long as the two closest to the R-stick are the default action buttons. In Xbox's case, this would be A and X, and in Nintendo's it would be B and Y.
Unfortunately, this is usually not the case for Nintendo games with A and X still being the usual defaults. Wii U Pro actually got this right, but they moved the R-stick with the Switch in a retarded design decision.

The idea should be that your thumb rests on the default buttons, being in between the second analog and secondary buttons for easy access to either

Anyone who grew up in the 90s knows that Y-X B-A is the correct layout. Even to this day whenever I have to use an Xbox controller, I get confused and press the wrong button when I see a prompt on screen.

Nintendo, since they did it first. The only issue with the Switch's buttons is the lack of concave X and Y buttons.

In that case
SEGA SUE THIS MAN

Xbox
You can see Xbox layout on the most Xbox and PC games while Nintendo layout only exist in 1.5 games, one of them is BOTW where you can install Xbox layout mod.

I don't think it matters. I don't have a Switch but I guess I prefer the bottom one, because it matches the O-confirm, X-deny scheme of the PlayStation.

The Nintendo layout evolved from the NES having A on the right.
I think a fresh set of eyes would always have A on the bottom, which is what both Sega and MS did.
I liked the Gamecube layout best desu.

>be an Xbox and Switch owner
>Have to adjust to a new button layout all the time

>the O-confirm, X-deny scheme of the PlayStation.
Yeah, if you play Japanese imports
This is almost always switched in the West

different colors
completely different

Nintendo, Japanese Sony layout matches it.

Yeah I never really understood that change. Like X meaning No is pretty universal, even in the west. Some PC ports have come around to at least letting you choose which you want.

nintendo for A/B
xbox for X/Y

>Anyone who grew up in the 90s knows that Y-X B-A is the correct layout.
wrong

my first console was the genesis. second console was the n64, which had the c buttons
third console was gamecube, where A was on the bottom

wow user you sure know how to pick the loser

Yes, I have refined tastes.

The Sega system makes more sense
>left to right, A B C
>need more buttons so add X Y Z on top of that
>new controller has two less buttons so axe out the Z and C

Nintendo obviously. The Xbox/Sega variation is pure cringe. The "okay" button should always be on the right. Fuck merriturds
