It most definitely does not deserve a 95+ rating, and it most certainly did not innovate like the tabloids are claiming. It’s not bad, but still feels like the same old dark souls. There’s a lot of empty space with nothing in it, like most open world games and the caves are starting to look the same. Solid 8/10

I don't think From is really capable of making a bad game at this point, the spectacle of the world and enemy design and the same competent combat is always going to be a cut above most of the industry. Is it a soulless formula I wish they would drop for something new? yes.

It is the worst souls game without a doubt.
1. Open World.
2. Swamps are completely meaningless and nerfed, you can avoid getitng poisoned by stayong on your horse.
3. Horse combat is garbage, but had to be included because open world.
4. Copy paste content; ruins, minor erdtrees etc.
5. Super easy and casualized; Spirit Summons and the fact that bosses are not challenging when you take your time and explore and do all the mini-dungeons, you get overleveld.

Its just kinda okay. The OST being the most forgettable thing I've ever heard hurts. I even thought DaS3 had a good OST and that Sekiro had some good tracks like Divine Dragon but this shit nothing besides the main these stuck with me.

Honestly, 6/10. Put in 100 hours and fought like 60 reused bosses.

A halberd or claymore charged strong attack can sweep 10 enemies as you run.
Timing the swing on another on horse enemy
does massive damage as well.

After the 40 hours the open world gets really dull. The boss fights don't help.

"don't use x then" argument doesn't make sense. The game is designed to be casual. The horse is there, I will use it. If they wanted to make swamps punishing, they would have made DeS and DaS style swamps.
I don't use summons, but it is obvious that summons are literally easy mode. Elden Ring is a sell out game and it is so sad that so many "soulsborne" fans don't even see it, Elden Ring is the beginning of the end for FromSoftware ARPGs.

The bosses are as good as DS3 DLC bosses, even early ones like the Watchdog Statue.
