I got the poison dog spirit and distracted the boss while it attacked and poisoned them and then I ran to the other side of the battlefield and spammed magic spells. I pity the autistic kids who are struggling with most bosses with their shitty melee builds.

I guess that it's considered easy mode cuz of the previous games, where it really trivialized boss battles by spliting bosses attention.
From all the mechanics this one makes the biggest difficulty difference I'd say, so maybe that is why people say it's dark souls easy mode.

But to me it still seems like tryhards trying to gatekeep more casual people.

Prey 2017 was already a good modern video game

Most people are used to easy mode being something you select in the games menu.
Souls game do easy mode differently. You can get overleveled, summon, exploit items, cheese bosses, etc. Basically the game is easy if you use every mechanic to it's fullest.
And then you can make it more challenging by not using some mechanics.

Souls games are in easy mode by default, it's just that some people are dumb and don't know how to make use of that. They want a stupid, boring menu item like in their other braindead games.
