Intelligence build, probably. You can get the meteorite staff right away and steamroll the entirety of Limgrave with it, no weapon upgrading required.
I'm playing unga bunga 2hand str build with no ranged attacks, which is ideal for a first playthrough because you have to learn every enemy and think creatively to solve some problems. I imagine if you made a beeline for certain weapon upgrade materials, you could also destroy most of the game like this too.
