okay cool but why would you buy a device most notable for being a massive win for Linux if you just want to install Windows on it? I mean no offense but that's cringe

Gaben said it could run Windows games, not Windows. If you want a Windows device buy an Xbox.

Because linux drivers are ass and make every game run 10 to 30 fps less?

Nvidia drivers*

kek I love that Gabe's entire career is just a giant fuck you to Microsoft.

it's pretty based, ngl

Good fuck you for wanting to install Windows on this.

The open-source AMD drivers are literally better

AMD + several companies + several random programmers

vs.

Just AMD

Are you from some bizzarro universe? AMD's Windows drivers are so bad they effectively don't have Windows drivers.

>2019
>proton 4.11
Not relevant. Oldrim runs on DX9, and D9VK is much better now than it was back then.

Proton 4 would've been like 3 years ago

2019-2022 was more development in Wine and game compatibility than 2005-2019 basically

God damn, I wish.

Nigger I have been on this board since before twitter was even a thing.
I've been on Any Forums so long that I'm shocked people can get banned for using the word Nigger now. Nigger.

>yes

you know that doesn't support your claim at all, right?
you also know that proton isn't a "linux driver" right?
are you really this stupid, or just dishonest?

It's a game running on popular linux distro.
I'm not going to spend literal weeks setting up dependencies and drivers for gaming on some bare metal distro just to have performance on par with windows 10 with a Nvidia graphics card.

The original claim was about drivers though. You can't just say "umm yeah but it's Linux-related lol"

I think we were all prepared for bugs and software issues. This is after all a very ambitious device that is pulling off some spectacular things, but I've seen a pretty alarming number of threads popping up with people requesting/requiring RMA replacements for their brand new Steam Decks. Most of the issues are minor from a manufacturing perspective but I can understand the desire to not live with a dead pixel or triggers that don't depress correctly. What's striking is the variety of issues. There are non functioning touch screens, crunching joysticks, triggers not depressing, inconsistent haptics, dead pixels, and probably more.

I don't know if this is normal or not, also not sure what to compare it to. This is Valve's biggest hardware launch. It's not on the scale of the Switch, but of all the people I've known with Switches, none of them had issues within the first month or two (all have experienced Joycon drift by now though).

I just hope this is normal and isn't going to prolong things for the rest of us. That being said, if your Deck has an issue I'm not discouraging an RMA. I know I would if it wasn't an easy fix.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Every time I see an RMA thread I picture Gaben frowning while watching the rain.

Because a direct comparison between a game running on windows and linux has nothing to do with drivers?
Fucking retard you do realize you need drivers in order to play the fucking game right?
Also the fact the only reason you have the driver is for the GAME to RUN. also the PERFORMANCE IS SHIT. FOR A GAME. RUNNING ON LINUX ON THE SAME MACHINE AS WINDOWS DOES BETTER.
