Petty nitpicks but i'm not a fan with the remaster version of the scene. In the original, the mushroom cloud is much smaller indicating that its a small dirty nuke bomb that went off, this one looks bigger. The remastered version of the level also focused hard on it looking "destructively beautiful" while the original one is more barren and desolate.

Okay, let's be a bit more autistic here. Looks like they are over the west coast while the nuke goes off over the east coast. That's about 4500km in distance. Shockwaves move at the speed of sound, which is about 1200 km per hour. So it should take 3.75 hours but it takes only 9 seconds. So the shockwave is traveling 1500 times faster than it should. Also yes, there are basically no particles to even have a shockwave at that altitude.
