I'm 32 years old. I fell for the hype and decided to buy Elden Ring. I keep getting hit with these telegraphed attacks that do big damage. Is it just a get gud thing or is there something else going on? Slower reflexes due to age? Any tips?
Enemies in Elden Ring were specifically designed to punish panic roll spam. As in, if you get hit by an attack, and then just start hitting roll as fast as you can, the attack is perfectly timed to hit you between rolls. This is an intentional design choice to punish people for roll spamming without thinking.

>herp derp guyz I am over 18 duz dat mean I am 2 old? If you think your body totally breaks down after like 29, you may have issues.
Kevin Peterson
durrrr am I too old?!?!! Shut the fuck up, you're too fucking stupid more likely.
Hunter Gutierrez
so you can still dodge through every attack if you roll at the right time? thanks for convincing me to never play elden ring
Adam Edwards
I never rolled since Demon souls because I am shit at it. As a cope, I just usually use a shield and stack a fuck ton of Endurance and just shield all incoming hits

>Slower reflexes due to age? No, you just don't have the patience anymore, which indeed is related to age.
Sebastian Phillips
I'm impressed that someone my age is actually this dumb. For the sake of argument tho, ask yourself: Do you play video games often still? Do you have a wife AND kid? Do you have a wageslave job? Do you have money (over 150k) If yes to at least two(2) of those then yea you're getting old and should probably just stop playing vidya

Yes, Souls games have an invincible dodge mechanic like basically every action game made in the last 20 years. Although a large number of bosses leave lingering hitboxes or damage zones on the floors with their attacks which rolling doesn't help with
Caleb Nguyen
nah, old dark souls bosses were about interesting strategic scenarios. elden ring is just boss is le hard lol
Dominic Torres
you can do that if your fine with jumping over some things and using barricade. But youll be eating alot of turtle necks

if ya stuck anywhere you can also just go and explore, level up vigor to 40 or 60, and pick up the 20 some gold seeds lying around here and there. Also use summons/spirit ashes to distract your enemies. No need to bang your head at a boss for 5 hours straight

>aspect of the crucible: dragon cock TIME TO BREAK THIS BUCK
John Watson
tip for the crucible knight >intentionaly hit him with his shield up >he will go for the shield charge immediately aftwerwards >leading to some easy cheap shots as he recovers
Ian Morris
>just respec and grind out an entire new set of weapons >just grind all your spirit ashes to useable levels >just summon Fuckin boring
Colton Perry
>the attack is perfectly timed to hit you between rolls no.. enemies do input read but not to that extent. roll spamming is still quite effective
Brayden Bennett
im mid 30s and playing ER, its hard yeah but wtf were you expecting, just dodge bro
Jackson Adams
>Slower reflexes due to age I hate this meme. Retards are not practicing or exercising but still insist that its their age that is making them slow.
Brandon Morris
tarnished but hole
Noah Peterson
jump more unironically. the dodge game is doubly complicated here since you can both roll and jump, and most of the attacks are best countered by one of these, also either just backing away or using strong attacks (charge r2, guard counter, or jumping r2 which can break bosses out of a lot of their combos. strong attacks are much more useful in this game than in ds123 which is just r1 spam)
Landon Jenkins
never had to grind anything dood, you can just go somewhere else since theres alot to discover in the open world. I mean you headbang yourself with shit stats and gear, but if you do that, hopefully you wont start crying how the game is unfair and broken.
Ryder Foster
If you can't even do the catacombs lol just return the game
