18 years since the proper sequel

I hope the new players are having/had fun with it, at least.
You don't need that smelly old Paper Mario anymore
just play bug fables
I replayed Paper Mario recently and honestly, was it really that good? Just all the shitty fetch quest you have to run for Grampa koopa kinda ruin it
The grampa Koopa with a warp pipe right next to his house that leads to warp rooms that can take you all over the world? Not in the slightest.
You could always just, you know, not do the parts you don't want to.
I loved it a multiple things. The characters, the funny story, the battle system isn't that hard but it makes turn based combat more engaging than a lot of other RPGs. Just great lighthearted fun. I would come home from school, play a chapter then comeback the next day.
Paper Mario peaked at 1. TTYD was good but the partners arent as cool overall.
There are many legit reasons you could pick for this argument, but the partners? Maybe if you mean just in design but the new mechanics in TTYD and the writing make the partners in the sequel much, much better than in the first game.
Remind me in 5 years if it's done.
Paper Mario 1 was the perfect balance of artistic soul and game design. It's the the most ideal spin possible on the standard "Mario saves the princess" story and doesn't skip a beat along the way.
Paper Mario 2 is a sloppier game with more inventive ideas. The world of Rogueport and beyond oozes charm, but the game has so much repetitive filler that pads for time. Even chapter 3, the best chapter of the game, relies on routine. Given how stuff like the graphics were a step down in animation quality from the first, it kind of feels like they lacked budget at times. The badge system was at its best here at least.
Origami King is as much of a return to form as you can get for a series that's abandoned the JRPG angle. In terms of being an adventure game it's surprisingly decent, the boss battles are great, and it's got a lot of highly memorable set pieces filled with soul. It also has a top 3 soundtrack for the Mario series as a whole.
The only three Paper Mario games worth playing. Super Paper Mario fans can go pick up Photoshop and a romance novel.
Nobody wants Paper Mario without Mario.
>Nooo this optional sidequest for an optional reward ruins the entire game for me
Wake me when there's Bug Fables: The Thousand Year Stool
Why has Any Forums become so filled with people desperately trying to tear down TTYD while propping up TOK?

I do. I don't care about the actual Mario in Paper Mario. Sue me.
