Tell me about 7th gen

tell me about 7th gen.
was it good?
I was too poor and couldn't offer any console from that era

It killed gaming

i enjoyed it.
mostly bought rpgs

It killed some of my favorite series since that gen whole shtick was being dark and "mature". By forcing that shit they had discarded all old players of say, Quake, for example. Not even talking about the whole brown & bloom thing, that wasn't that much of an issue for me

7th gen had some really good kino, but it also fell for the brown color pallet meme.

It started out pretty cool. I remember being blown away the first time I saw CoD 2 at the EBGames display.
Gave us some cool shit like the first Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed. I even enjoyed Uncharted for 1 and 2 when I eventually got a PS3 in 2011. Cinematic games weren't overplayed yet. Ended with a whimper that eventually sorta bled into gen 8.

You can still get one today for cheap, of course it won't be the same but still.
I owned a 360 for the first time only last year.

It is unironically responsible for all the cancerous trends that plague the gaming industry today.

I got a used PS3 but I'm sad that I can't experience the online features.

PSN for PS3 is still online, no?
Or do you mean that there's no one to play against?

>Or do you mean that there's no one to play against?
Yes, and many games have shutdown servers like Killzone 2.

I'm also sad that I missed Playstation Home, and that 100 player X360 game

Gotcha. When I got my PS3 in 2011 I logged into home like once or twice. I never really saw the appeal of it myself. I think the technology just wasn't there really.

Killzone 2 is back online, you can try that out.
There's also MGS4 online, Demon's Souls and Warhawk that have had their online components brought back by fans.

are you talking about RPCS3 fan servers or actual servers?

Fan made private servers that can be played on actual PS3 hardware.

Early 7th gen was just as good as any previous gen. I'm an Xboxfag with a Series X and most of what I play is 7th gen 360 games. I got back into Fable 2 recently after first starting it in 2019 and it's been such a great time, really wish I gave the game a shot a decade ago. Also beat Assassin's Creed 1 and Just Cause 1 within the past year.
These games take me back, dude. No microtransactions and limited DLC.

nice, thanks for letting me know.

It was okay at the time, but basically everything good has been ported so the consoles don't have much to go back to now.

360 had a good start, by 2010 had nothing new or interesting
PS3 had a so-so start, took a while to get going but ended up with the best library. It worked out because as the 360 was shitting the bed the PS3 was going full steam ahead.
Wii was rough with a lot of overhyped and massively disappointing Nintendo games. It ended up with some novel titles but the wagglan has not held up well. Today it's a decent way to entertain non-gamers and has a few cool games worth checking out but nothing truly amazing.

there were so many great games i played on my xbox360, the only console i had before that was a famiclone, a lot of games noone realy remembers today like asuras wrath that i really liked

That's pretty much my opinion as well. Spot on.
