RPG can be used as a genre-term and such.
Still, many just say RPG. Some say RPG games, but that is a bit redundant.
You can of course use it as in "Games with RPG mechanics", rather than "Games with Roleplaying mechanics". The problem comes with the fact that the genre has a "Game" in it's name.
