jesus christ I hate this corny funk or pop soul music or whatever that is. Sampling is the best thing that ever happened to music. Taking throwaway genres like smooth soul and making something artistically valid out of it takes way more skill than making garbage, disposable, trendy dreck. Digital love is one of the most beloved house tracks of all time and that use of the sample melody is genius.
