Why exactly are you disappointed in it?

i expected to hate it but im having some fun

im not. ur mad. lol

it doodee poopy doodoo pooooooopshitfatcumdickpoopniggerfaggot pooooooooooop

All bosses are boring shit meant to be rageinducing
Take the leonine not gael reskin, he majes the same movement gael does, but stands suspended and magically does a bloodborne flashy move in one nanosecond just to rolecatch those used to gael.

Wow so fun.

Literally everything in this game is reused between zones, sometimes also from previous games.
It was bad enough in Stormveil but once I reached Liurnia of the Lakes and Caelid just to notice same shacks, same caves, same ruins, same catacombs and same evergaols I had fucking enough. It's like playing a generic Korean MMO.
I decided to give up and just open the interactive map on fextralife so I can avoid this garbage, regurgitated content without missing on good sorcerer items and NPCs. It's the worst Souls experience I had. I'm not even sure if I'll finish it.

Not really disappointed in it, but not a 10/10 either.
The best parts are literally the DS dungeons and not the Open World. But the bosses compared to any other From game except maybe DS2.

>But the bosses compared to any other From game except maybe DS2.
?

its just ds2 with better graphics

I am fighting a Magma Wyrm for the 3rd time

They copy/pasted this boss 3 times and he's one of the shittiest bosses in the entire game

Attached: 1.jpg (1336x752, 182.46K)

If you think Magma Wyrm is bad wait for Fallingstar Beast. Such a fun and interactive boss when fought in the same fucking room shown in your pic.

I went Strength/Faith with a shield and was expecting some stamina management and well timed guard counters and instead I got jump attack simulator.

Why are all bosses the same? Really it seems like fromsoft thinks the only way to make a boss hard is giving it inorganic and arrhythmic unpredictable animations to bait you into roll on the wrong moment.
They did this in dark souls but at least it was more organic and noticeable, now its always the same "HAAA LOOK IM GOING TOOOOOOOOO..........attack you"

They have thoae stupid anime windups and they suspend their attacks for hours.

I think they did it to make it more easy actually

Like just stop spazzing out and panic rolling

>gear simulator
Nothing more needs to be said. Get OP weapons. Win game. It's that simple.

You forget those random aoe attacks each fucking boss has because of lulz that they can spam in one second without any indication in some rng fuckfest

the combat is just DS3 (which was already bad) but executed worse. I'm fairly certain you could back-port the dungeons from Elden Ring and have an identical or even better experience.

I hate this damn game but I can't stop playing it! Every time I'm ready to throw in the towel, I make another breakthrough. God this is infuriating, I can't stop pushing forward because I want to see what happens next.

The exploration isn't fun. I've been playing a magic build for the first two hours and still only have one spell. The game forces you to scour its massive landscape, but it's too big to affect a sense of wonder or discovery like past games.

Also the attack patterns are really fucking wonky and make parrying akin to a guessjng game for me.

It's dark souls 3.5, and I hated dark souls 3.
I wanted something different.

There is a lot of open world padding but it looks like you can skip almost all of it and just go straight through the story stuff without too much trouble. There are enough resources on the main path to have adequate level and equipment.

The bad
>Boss Design
from a mechanical standpoint is some of the worst in the series. Some might look cool but they're all unfun for various reasons
>too much empty space and copy+pasted shit
it's not as egregious as other games might be But having a boss fight that's just two of a boss you fought before, or a boss fight that's just a powered up version of a regular kinda hard enemy just feels lazy.

The good
>Ashes of War
they add a fuckload of fun and variety to pure melee builds. And They're actually useful unlike DaS3 weapon arts.
> The optional content
The Legacy Dungeons are cool but there's a good amount of purely optional mid-sized dungeons as well. The empty space is bad but there's a lot of actual cool areas to find.

I work for ubisoft and am seething they made an open world game people like

it's just a reskinned dark souls 3

Not hard enough. The hard mode in Luminous Avenger iX 2 gave me more of a challenge than this game

Like the fabled lands java but no towns to explore or quests to discover, just go to point a and point be and kill some guys.

Attached: The fabled lands java.jpg (600x480, 83.74K)

They don't have to do this for all items but the pokeball pickup white light bullshit needs to go. Collecting smithing stones directly from cave walls that look like smithing stones is a step in the right direction.

Malenia is a bullshit unfun boss that wasn't designed with all the game's builds in mind.
Take away her lifesteal - she doesn't need it. And her anime attack while we're at it.

Fromshills are the most delusional people on earth, they are pretending this game has anything REALLY any mechanical innovation that skyrim didn't, is literally skyrim but without npcs and a ds3 combat mod

it puts a bad taste in my mouth when the creator actively makes it a point to discourage and punish the way players enjoy the game. this is especially true when the new methods they want you to adopt are extremely slow paced with little to no risk by comparison.
i also dislike how they padded the boss count. i wanted to get my fill of the game for a while, so i tried to comb the entire map. i ended a little over 104ish or something hours, but the last 30 or so were more irritating than anything. when i'd find a cave and it would end up being catacombs, i'd roll my fucking eyes and get hit with exhaustion because i knew it was going to be just an annoying dumbass area with either a piss easy boss or the worst designed shit in a video game -- both of which i'd already have beaten 3-4 times already.
the map is so god damn incredibly, unfathomably gigantic that they could have easily cut it down and spent more time on a few more bosses. instead, they kept the huge scale and altered move sets a bit, which feels a compromise for the devs rather than the players. nobody would be upset if the world was just a little smaller or there were better ways to complete the cave areas other than ending on a rehashed boss fight. there was one area where you had to/could jump on top of the giant mechanical hallway death machine and ride on it. that shit was tight. just do more shit like that leading to the items rather than a shitty boss. fuck man
i had a great time for a while but towards the end it all just felt like a chore. i don't think the game was meant to be seen in one playthrough, or at least not in the timeframe i did it. the optional content is so recycled and i understand they need to utilize economy for an open world game but they could have easily just eased up on the scope. like the game has quality and quantity but the quantity is not quality, you know. anyway, fuck this game. 10/10, looking forward to ng+.

Post beating Malenia with no shield

Really lazy recycled DaS lore and bad characters. The game drags on too long and nothing is as good as Stormveil or seeing Caelid for the first time. The combat is downright bad. Mechanically, it's close to DaS2 in terms of being shit. Despite working with one type of game and one engine for so many years, the game is insanely janky.

time to bust out the copypasta
AHEM
I expected a lot more from elden ring. The RPG mechanics and player decision making is very bare. The exploration feels unsatisfying as theres not a lot of direction for things that actually matter and most of the stuff i find will never be used for anything. 90% of my time exploring feels wasted. The lack of danger on the overworld from survival mechanics or night time mobs or visibility etc makes the aspect of adventure in this game boil down to go from enemy placement to enemy placement to enemy placement with nothing to do but combat. i expected there to be rudimentary puzzle solving or platforming or even a quest system that would enhance your experience on the overworld, but its literally just combat>horse>combat>horse>combat and on the off chance you find a dungeon, combat>combat>combat. The game doesnt have rich enough combat to justify it being the only gameplay element that fromsoft put effort into.
Overall the decision to make this an open world rpg without investing in rpg mechanics or creating experiences outside of fighting makes this game shallow, repetitive, and difficult to immerse into.

>i ended a little over 104ish or something hours
user the game has been out for less than 2 weeks
>i had a great time for a while but towards the end it all just felt like a chore
because you played it like it was a fucking dayjob

No fishing

ugly world
same old same old
open world adds nothing at all
music pushed to backburner
loss of cohesion in set and setting and enemy design
tired of souls

>they are pretending this game has anything REALLY any mechanical innovation that skyrim didn't,
Skyrim literally has zero well-designed areas or dungeons. Elden Ring has a fair amount of open world syndrome, But the actual dungeon areas are still decently-designed.

They fucking copy and pasted margit, tree sentinels, and that magma dragon, WHY???
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU RECYCLE THE SAME EXACT BOSS IN THE SAME FUCKING GAME ARRFGGGH!
Its bad enough the open world and copy and pasted flipped dungeon assets have non-challenging mobs and you get to some mediocre boss ugh.
Bring me back the tailored experience of dark souls 1-3.

Attached: DjSpit.png (360x360, 125.32K)

Fallingstar isn't as bad, especially in more open areas because he doesn't vomited magma while charging and trying to nudge you into the magma pools like a fucking faggot.

To add to this, recycled content. The real crime is that if the world was about 40% smaller, it would still be plenty big and they'd have enough content to keep everything fresh and not repeat stuff.

Why are all bosses so unfun, unmemorable and annoying? Really, i wont ever give a second run to any boss in this game if it was for me, but i would fondly give a second run to lady maria, gehrman, the orphan, the twin princes, the abyss watchers, gael, midir, etc.
Its like they took everything bad from bb and ds3 when it comes to boss designs and forgot to add the good parts, when i killed those bosses i felt some satisfaction, like i learnt to dance with them, and i wanted to replay them.
With this game bosses is just relief i don't have to see them anymore except in some dungeon when they will come in double

>Bring me back the tailored experience of dark souls 1-3.
user those games all had recycled bosses too though...

its like they put every bad boss design idea into every single boss. and then when you think they stop, they just make a shit ton of duo bosses. not to mention they just straight up copy pasted some bosses from ds3 to elden ring.

The UI looking like DS3 with tiny improvements is lazy, seems like it cuts corners where it almost shines, seems like they were seriously debating back and forth the idea whether to make this an open world game mid development, movesets are copied from old souls games,

lots of references to old souls games, same shit lore, shit port, shit frame time skipping/lag regardless of console/pc, enemies haphazardly placed everywhere with no real clear cohesive manner, just seems like they didn't really think it through

Attached: 1620671713719.jpg (320x180, 7.17K)

Reason 1, quantity over quality
>map is way, way too big for what little meaningful content is there
>reused bosses
>seriously so fucking many reused bosses
>copypasted dungeons
>dozens and dozens of things to craft that you'll never use
Reason 2, lazy enemy and boss design
>every enemy has some kind of delayed attack, even fucking wild rabid animals will do some clever delayed fakeouts
>every enemy has infinite stamina
>most enemies have

oh yeah i miss dark souls 1-3 where they didnt reuse anything

>Why are all bosses so unfun, unmemorable and annoying? Really, i wont ever give a second run to any boss in this game if it was for me, but i would fondly give a second run to lady maria, gehrman, the orphan, the twin princes, the abyss watchers, gael, midir, etc.
same what makes elden ring bosses so shit?

Game's fun until you get to the bosses and bosses have always been what I looked forward to in soulsborne games. The game also loves throwing bosses in pairs at you.

skyrim has better dungeons

DS3 reused like one boss, which was Dragonslayer Armor. Two if you count Gundyr which no one does.
Elden Ring has worse content reuse than most fucking MMOs

souls games have always just been blatant rip offs of either Berserker or medieval with fantasy

fakeouts are okay, you just need to learn them. The problem is
>boss does 15 move combo with a split second window before he goes into another 15 move combo
>okay here's my chance
>attack
>boss reads your inputs and dodges
>heal
>boss reads your inputs and punishes you in a way that's impossible to avoid

>Fakeouts are okay,
>lists reasons why they aren't

>guy 1
>starts wanting to play ultra greatsword
>can't find it, finds sorceries
>guy 2
>wants to be sorcerer
>only finds curved swords
>guy 3
>wants to be swashbuckler
>only finds ultra greatswords

open world doesn't work when you have 43 items that are spread among 5009 locations

Asides from the legacy dungeons? Is just skyrim with ds3 mod.
They even copypaste the same catacombs like skyrim did

This game benefits in NO way from being open world, NONE 0.
I beat the game, combed the entire map did not use the crafting tools ONCE.
The entire open world is filled with fucking bandits, those farting oysters, and crabs and other trash, NONE OF IT is challenging at all.
fuck man fun game tho

you'd have to be delusional to think that.

I'm not. It's a lot better than I expected. Still just Dark Souls in a pointless open world though.

Accidentally submitted, my bad.
>most enemies have very long combos that can stagger you to death, including trash mobs, yes even with "high" poise (which does nothing)
Reason 3, the open world does not work
>NPCs are spread out everywhere and give next to no indication of where they'll go, often no indication at all
>few are memorable, you'll forget most and mistake some for others
>their names are similar, exacerbating the above issue
>extremely diffocult to keep track of their quests because of all this
>because progression is often location based, you can break quests just by exploring as you're expected to

And elden ring is a ripoff of the ripoff itself.

I dont know how anyone can claim they didnt copy and past catacombs.
The enemy placement is EXACTLY the same except with varying enemies themselves.
>3 gargoyled
>3 wolfs
>3 goblins
than boss ect.

Its 8-9/10 for me

About 2 points deducted for
>a bit too much copypasted assets, like every mine has the exact same elevator setpiece with exact same half floor
>Nokron first part literally copypasted Siofra entire mechanics AND the boss, and its the same fucking boss again with one new move
>having to fight Tree Spirit like 8 or 9 times was more than necessary, Miyazaki
>lack of photomode
>NPC Souls-style questlines feel a bit janky when its big ass open world, in previous games it was far easier to find an NPC again because its all linear corridors, so "they got to be somewhere", in here its like unless the NPC is at key location or a bonfire its just random luck you find them; the blind whore is a prime example, she literally moves to a spot in the middle of a bumfuck nowhere you have no reason to revisit after giving her first of her items; I dunno where she moved again this time and cba to look it up

Attached: bunny look.jpg (919x829, 35.72K)

The open world and the horse combat sucks.

Someone who played through Nioh 2, did Nioh copy and paste enemies like Elden did?
