it really depends on what you're looking at as an advantage. Rubber dome or otherwise non mechanical keyboards eventually start to suffer from multiple key presses. As in you press R to reload, and the keyboard thinks you pressed R, T, and F simultaneously. Mechanical keyboards will last longer for the number of key presses and not suffer from the problem I mentioned. That and if you're using a faster actuation switch like Cherry Reds or the countless "speed" oriented switches from the various companies, they'll activate the key press faster than something like a Cherry Blue which is click and has more travel time.
