Easy to pick up and difficult to get good. Color palettes are lively and varied across each game. Music is eh... sometimes it's okay.
The strong point is really just how simple it is to play and how it looks nice.

Basically how the fandom is when it comes to dealing with shit, they can be more entertaining than any of the media that is pushed out for the series.

Music
The answer will always be the music

the music

Porn.

eggman

The comics.

Soundtrack. Even the worst Sonic games have great music.

Chronicles.

Sonic is cute

Physics-based platforming and bizarre, trippy storylines

the Sonic Boom tv series

Music and fanbase. Games havent been what I've wanted since they moved to Boost shit (Mania obviously being a game I have liked since then), though. Still, I can always depend on the music and the fanbase (I love how ridiculous it is, yet somehow creative and collective it is) to be redeeming.

The aesthetic and characters always kept me from liking this as a kid. It was unsettling, just like Mario characters. They seem so soulless.

The franchise had a handful of fondly remembered games that were released before a majority of the people on Any Forums were born.

always the music
