it made no sense in fallout 3, but it works for other games.

i think the issue alot of people have with bloom is that developers set the threshold for it too low so anything white ends up emitting a glow.
good bloom placed around bright lights and at night is alot better

Yes it was fucking shit and made only to disguise the low draw distance and ugly low resolution and low res textures that consoles weren't ready for, as well as due to being ashamed of games as a kids' hobby and trying to distance themselves from that as much as possible not taking the final result into account

There was like 2 good wagglan games, and I'd argue they were good DESPITE the wagglan.
Even the games where wagglan was supposed to be well engineered and built into the game like skyward sword were absolute trash.
And to boot, games that absolutely did not needed it had the wagglan forced into them for literally no reason other than "ITS THE WII IT NEEDS WAGGLAN AAA"

It's no coincidence that basically every game from that era that's still remembered was NOT brown and bloom and either were good despite the wagglan and moved past it or barely used the wagglan to begin with

The brown and bloom wasn't the problem, the problem was sub-720p 30 FPS with drops brown and bloom. If you play Fallout 3 on PC it looks a helluva lot better. There are still problems (character models, texture work, the world design), but it works. I don't blame people for installing weather/lighting mods though; even all these years later Fellout is still the #3 most popular Fallout 3 mod, even if more in-depth mods came out later.
