i wish they kept this aesthetic for gen 3 and just used the cartridge capacity to fill it with content galore,
i can imagine that on DS there was no mainline pokemon and instead we got Stadium 3, and you put in the GBA games at the same time and had a rocking 3D esque experience with all your pokemon, and then when 3DS came around the jump in graphics from here to there would have been ridiculous.

gen2's aesthetic was peak but gen3's was also good in its own way, if it had day/night cycles it would have been a solid competitor in terms of aesthetic. 4 looked ugly but that was mostly because of the transition away from 2d, by the time 5 came around the look was a bit better.

The only gen when Game Freak was actually impressive compared to other developers for the platform. They’ve continuously phoned it in over the years as they move away from the original vision of the Pokemon world. The yearly cod release schedule hasn’t helped. Neither have the retarded fans.

Eh, I meant relative to the competition (which there was none for the handheld market), so I went with platform. No other gen looks good compared to other games from the time period.
GSC look, sound, and play great, and they added a ton to the series. They are pretty impressive, even more so if you consider Game Freak made them. Newer gens have implemented good features, but that implementation has been far from perfect. For example, the stat split absolutely fucked a lot of pokemon because they didn’t get their stats reworked.
