FFVIIr got the core concepts and general design pretty much perfectly, it just needs some adjustments. FFXIII combat is very entertaining and surprisingly deep, but its contet needed to be better distributed throught the game. FFXV had potential, but the core mechanics are shit, no matter how much skill tree you put.
