Gohan's powerup is literally a transformation nowadays and has been since Battle of Gods, so many years by now. You're living under a rock, they basically changed their mind about it being his base because it wasn't as marketable so it got turned into a transformation.
Same reason why Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego are now transformations despite technically just being techniques like Kaioken.

It's been a transformation LONG before that with tertiary media treating it as such.

They just returned to their original colour because he's older.
If you go back to Namek footage or original DB, or even just Kami, you'll notice their muscle thingies get progressively more yellow the older they are and for really old ones they get very faded yellow colour.
This is technically Toei invention since in the manga/original Toriyama artwork it has always been yellow for all Namekians regardless of age, but Toei invented the pink thing for when they're younger.
