Square-Enix should've sold all of their Western game studios by now after the Marvel flops

IOInteractive has been spun off from S-E
Avalanche Studios Group has been sold off to Nordisk Film
All that's left is Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal

They probably only talk this game after forspoken

Yoshida is a hack, too bad he has a rabid fanbase now

Forspoken Release date 2022
FF7 Remake Part 2 expected release date is in 2023, this leaves FF16 in a tough spot. Yoshi-p said to expect more news in 2022

The gritty Game of Thrones/Witcher aesthetic fad already passed before the game even started development. It's going to come out a decade late.

Those in the know already heard it's being done by Yoshida and the Heavensward team of FFXIV. And while that excites some people, a lot of people have negative associations with FFXIV. Either because of the drama around the game, because the story is far too long and bloated or they simply hate MMOs. Again, this doesn't mean FFXVI will have any similarities to FFXIV. But since the biggest marketing for the game has been "we have Yoshida of FFXIV doing it," the association to it will repel some people.

Some people are tired of these flashy new FF games and want a return to the earlier FF games that focused on you know...fantasy and turn based combat. And this game having a gritty medieval look and ARPG combat isn't the what they're looking for.

Square is probably expecting this game to sell 10 million copies, like all other major FF games. But it probably will sell 5-6 million. Because the Final Fantasy brand name as a whole is at record lows of trust.

the game pursues final fantasy tactics and every Any Forums drone thinks it's game of thrones
