They simply make their games more interesting. Actual content vs "RPG mechanics" bloat.

>actual content
the only content the game has is killing enemies and earning more things to kill enemies with
it's essentially a Diablo game

>Actual content
>Death Stranding

wait how long is it?

But Death Stranding is actually good and has compelling characters and themes. Elden Ring is just a mindless violent repetition of "kill boss, go to next boss"

Death Stranding's open world unironically feels less empty than Elden Ring which is an achievement.

>mom i simplified things again!
>d-dude, when you think about it.. *tokes* all games are basically nothing but you pressing buttons until the end

Long games bad is a vidya journo opinion.

I'm finding new shit left and right on Elden Ring.

Post tits or gtfo

That's Nioh, Elden Ring is more like a classic MMO because the quests are cryptic, easy to miss, and require you to pay attention to dialogue or decipher maps. The exploration is also incredibly rewarding and you can easily find yourself in high level zones where everything can one shot you.

It's a god tier game for anyone who misses old MMO design. Even the punishing difficulty for exploration is there, where you can "lose exp" if you don't get your souls. Seeing the zoomers get filtered is hilarious.

you're the one simplifying here user. a game like It Takes Two has a ton of unique content, so that would be my example of a game doing the opposite of Elden Ring
ER has a lack of unique things to do that don't involve smacking the shit out of stuff

Death stranding was terrible though

>The exploration is also incredibly rewarding and you can easily find yourself in high level zones where everything can one shot you.
more often than not you're either overleveled or underleveled, there's rarely a time when you're just the right level, not at all like how it was in the previous From games since they could actually account for what sort of level you'd be at certain points

Kojima is, and will forever be, a hack.

good gameplay tho

The only game that is true for is Sekiro, which is why many have it as their favorite From game because it nails the difficulty curve. It's very easy to be over or underleveled in the rest of the Souls games. Although being underleveled doesn't truly matter that much when people can beat all the games at level 1, the major concern is being overleveled and trivializing the content but you can do a playthrough of Dark Souls 1, get a Black Knight weapon or the Drake Sword and then breeze through the game until you get Havel's armor and facetank everything.

Dark Souls 2 is arguably worse because you can use the rapier to destroy the entire game and you get access to the Old Leo Ring right away to enable that build, a newer player can easily do that as their first boss on accident. Especially if they aren't playing SotFS which adds the dragon in front.

It's fun for the first 10 hours and then it gets real fucking old

Whatever helps you sleep at night

I found many fascinating things in the world of Death Stranding. You just don't get a popup saying GOOD JOB YOU FOUND MYSTERIOUS PLACE no2/50 because Kojima trusts his players to have a brain.

>Kojima trusts his players to have a brain.
Is that why he has to beat all his players over the head with story elements over and over and can't stand leaving them inferring anything?

>doing 1 percent of the boss' health bar with a strong combo good if japanese game
>boss two shoting you good if japanese game
