Pokemon survives on people's nostalgia for the original games. Digimon survives on people's nostalgia for the first season of the anime. The thing is, you can remake the same game a hell of a lot longer than you can remake the same show.

Digimon constantly reinvents itself, that's its biggest failing. Also Bandai doesn't give them any funding, which is telling since 2022 seems to be the year where Digimon is getting its biggest push in a real long time
Please. I used to be a Pokémon and Digimon fan. I say used to be, because TPCI burned away all my good will for the franchise with SWSH and everything that came after.
Digimon, on the other hand, has only been getting better and better as of late.

they did, and it flopped because DW1's jank, vague gameplay mechanics, and lack of handholding was part of its charm too, not to mention the additional evolution stage only increased the amount of tedious stat grinding you had to do

fr tho maybe lean more in the cybersleuth design direction. go even harder into the "smt but digimon" angle, really. those games were great. using that design space and expanding it, and making a more interesting world than just the same cyberspacey lookin' shit for 30-40 hours of playtime would be awesome as hell.
I disagree. I want games to remember that Digimon are intelligent beings who can speak and are supposed to be FRIENDS. Fuck SMT, Digimon are not expendable.
