Good is subjective. I think it's better, because it runs all the games I like, and didn't subject me to the Windows desktop experience which I dislike. I'm not telling you to use Linux though, so you don't need to reply to this with all the reasons that you won't use Linux as if I care. I'm already using Linux and it's too late to stop me, but if you like Windows then you should stay on it. Basically if this post makes you mad then you're autistic.

Because most games are made specifically with Windows in mind, and use proprietary frameworks, libraries, and other things. Those proprietary elements are often not available on Linux because of the philosophy behind the system, so game compatibility was meager for a long time, even with WINE.
Games that were made with open source in mind tend to run fine not just with Linux, but also Windows when properly ported.

I think I've played exactly one game that didn't work perfectly fine on proton that wasn't just an EAC issue, but frankly even if I was on windows I still wouldn't knowingly play any game with that shit regardless.
