Hey Any Forums I have doctors appointment tomorrow to address 15 years of tinnitus worsening. Gaming with headphones starting causing this for me at age 21. Now i'm 36 and dealing with the consequences. At this point the screeching is louder than any white noise machine can drown out.
What realistically are my chances of getting some relief without resorting to implant devices designed to cancel out the noise?
>Hey guys I've decided to be retarded for 20 years what do I do? Also I don't want to do the one thing that might help Ok buddy

I've had tinnitus since I was 4 or 5, did you go to concerts without earplugs or listen to shit at max volume headphones or something retarded?
James Ross
None. I burst my eardrum from extreme headphone use and later in life lost hearing in that ear through something unrelated, but the tinnitus still exists. It's fucking awful.

your ears on coffee

there are tinnitus frequency testers on youtube. figure out what it is and then you can find a thing to help you cancel it out

I woke up with it last week, saw a doctor and specialist who both said it's from stress, anxiety, and poor sleep. Seems to be going down with each passing day and should disappear soon. Still scary as shit, especially with how loud it was at the start. Can earphones really cause it? Surely for that to happen they'd have to be extremely loud.

Uoooooo. Tinitus erutics

I'm 30 and I've had it for about 10 years. As far as I know your best shot at any relief comes from meditation, relaxation, and just distracting yourself with other noises and shit. All mental illusions and shit

Why do people crank their headphones? They're designed to be quiet, like you don't need as much volume because the sound is right in your ears. Is everyone just retarded except for me? You don't even have the excuse of being an edgy teenager listening to Korn way too loud because mom and dad are fighting, you started doing this to yourself when you were 21.

>eye >filters literally anything, even fills in the fucking blind spot with believable data >ear >hears your constant false noise bro Why do they do this?
Cameron Nguyen
OP here, I should have been more clear. I meant when I was 21 I used headphones for a few years, maybe 3-4. At around age 25 I stopped when I noticed mild tinnitus. In the past 11 years since then it has worsened without any headphone use.
Nathan Bailey
Stop using headphones. You'll only make it worse.

Ear also doesn't even let you hear your own voice properly.

I have this as well. Apparently it's a damaged nerve in the eye, usually from birth. I have tinnutus as well but I don't notice it unless it's dead quiet. Did a hearing test a few years back and had exceptional apparently, I'm 31 now.

Then it could be literally anything else you are doing that is making it worse Either way, you're stuck with it. Nobody can do anything for you
Gabriel Morgan
Headphones are fine, just don't be a retard. Use them at normal volume levels instead of retard loud and it should be perfectly fine.

Well I live in a quiet room and work and live peacefully, so I doubt I'm doing anything to actively worsen it. Either way I'm fully aware I have this for life, just trying to find methods to reduce or distract

I have had tinnitus for about 20 years now and the only thing that seems to reduce it is having a decent sleep routine, staying hydrated, avoiding binge drinking alcohols with lots of sugar in them and sleeping with a fan on. Meditation also helps and a lot of therapies now will just point towards learning to live with the noise and accepting it.

>Gaming with headphones starting causing this for me at age 21 This isn't really likely unless you slam your headphones through an amp and blast that shit loud enough that your neighbors can hear it. You got the bad genes, son.
