I paid around 250 bucks for my 1060 years ago when my old gpu died. I'm not paying 600 bucks for the contemporary equivalent. I used my old GPU for ten years, I can wait a little longer to see if prices go back to normal. 10% off insane prices - it is zoomer ADHD logic to think that's good.

i tell myself i'll upgrade my shitty gtx 750 store-bought PC soon but i don't have the patience for it. i'll stick to playing old games

Bought a 760 back in 2013 for 150 bucks. Was going to upgrade couple years back but bitcoin happened. Now they wanted like 300+ msrp for the equivalent? Fuck the scalpers MSRP itself is ridiculous. Fucking price of a whole ass (expensive) modern console for mid tier cards.

I did buy in february though.

Still way too expensive for me, not even gonna think about upgrading until it's at MSRP. It shouldn't even be that high, if it wasn't for the fucked market they'd be selling for below MSRP right now because the cards are two years old.

At this point I will simply hold out until the next generation.

6500XT is literally available for msrp prices. Pair it with a 12th gen i3 and h610 and you're set

You miss the point. If you already have 2060 then 6500XT is not for you. You're clearly not budget bound so you should be looking at 6600 or 3060.
