>glasses-free 3D >full backwards compatibility with DS >Full suite of amazing first and third party exclusives >As if this library wasn't killer enough, it also runs GB, GBC, GBA, NES, and even SNES and PSX on the *new* Models >Web browser >Friends list with messaging and swapnote >Home menu themes with custom music and UI elements, as well as stickers/badges to decorate with >MIIVERSE >Mother fucking STREET PASS is the coolest thing ever and also has a full suite of built in mini games
The new 3ds is a homebrew beast, I've been trying to buy one for a while
Samuel Butler
90% of these features took 4 years to be implemented.
Street pass was amazing tho and I'm literally seething the switch doesn't have it.
Blake Nguyen
>glasses-free 3D shit. terrible resolution and only worthwhile in a few games >full backwards compatibility with DS yeah and ds games look like absolute crap on it (og model). no reason not to just play them on your ds. >Full suite of amazing first and third party exclusives Lol. had some decent first party stuff. mediocre third party and okay indies >As if this library wasn't killer enough, it also runs GB, GBC, GBA, NES, and even SNES and PSX on the *new* Models yeah with shitty emulators with no features, unless you're using homebrew apps >Web browser Lol. >Friends list with messaging and swapnote It was shit. swapnote was fun but died fast >Home menu themes with custom music and UI elements, as well as stickers/badges to decorate with shit themes, most of which were paid >MIIVERSE literally just for children and pedophiles with no inbetween >Mother fucking STREET PASS is the coolest thing ever and also has a full suite of built in mini games yeah streetpass was a novel idea >The Shittch just can't compete. it's already better in just about every way that actually matters.
Protip, buy a used japanese one... They're way cheaper, and usually have been taken really good care of compared to US/EU units. Mine was ~$80 and basically pristine condition.
Luma makes everything work fairly seamlessly region free, all you occasionally need are Luma Locale Switcher for games which automatically switch languages, and Dead Simple EULA Setter to enable Online MP.
You can also just flash English firmware on it if you really want to.
My day 1 3DS has perfect screens. I could probably sell this shit for $300 on ebay. Based $3 Chinese screen protector from GameStop.
Jose Sullivan
>buy a used japanese one From where though? I assume shipping fees would make it more expensive
Ian Reed
Ebay. Literally all those jap sellers which have like 100% positive feedback will go into meticulous detail with HD photographs and describe the severity of any flaws. The large majority are in stellar condition with just teeny tiny scratches on the outer plastic.
Leo Gomez
what said Protip: if you want an XL, search for "new 3ds LL", it'll help narrow your results extremely well
How would you even get started modding a 3DS? Does it require a monetary investment?
Joshua Bailey
Just bought a light blue Monster Hunter 4 version for $80 a few mins ago. God it's gonna be so kino. Although maybe I should store it safely and wait for prices to go up.... Hm...
enough about how great 3ds is. let's talk about 3ds's faults
>original model's glossy material >original model's design in general >clamshell bumpers too short to protect the top screen from closing against the bottom screen's borders
Caleb Butler
All you need is a PC, SD card, and follow the steps on this website: 3DS.hacks.guide
If you're not a drooling retard and you can unzip & drop files , it takes about 30 minutes and is completely safe.
Brandon Bell
how easy is it to develop games for the 3DS specifically games that actually use the stereoscopic 3D
Justin Barnes
Og model was sexy as fuck. >Shiny, sparkly gradient >Aluminum top panel >Nice and compact but also weighty and solid >Black screen border on top, glowy 3D icon It felt premium. Much better than the plain plastic XL's they made later.
Jordan Torres
>online still free to this day
Kayden Cook
I've been playing mh3u for the first time It's fucking awesome, I wish it had online but I might buy a wii u for when I hit G rank
Andrew Walker
Online would be nice but much like the old pokemon games there's something SOULful about having to meet up with your friend in person and play together locally....
it feels like fucking shit mate >bottom panel feels like garbage and isnt flush with the system, so it gets dusty and is hard to clean >paint on the dpad peels >top screen scratches >the eshop makes the switch eshop feel like heaven >generally slow as shit >cant even press the home button on virtual console or ds games >ds games look like shit on it >not enough buttons on the og
James Thompson
XL model is just ugly and bland compared to OG. And not as pocketable.
It's a tradeoff though, because XL is vastly more comfortable to hold.
