I found the pistol to be very good.
Picks off soldiers very well. (they have body armor, so don't aim there with a 9mm gun you retards)
Good animation, good feedback
Sound is a bit weak but better that than the unrealistic CoD pistol sounds that are just wub wub bass bosted no-reverb gun sounds that are made in a noise cancelled room.
Battlefield guns have always had a nice echo to them that few games have managed to get right.

Weirder than what's heating it is that the ammo is just a chunk of rebar isn't it? The fact that you can pick up crossbow ammunition means that either other people have some similar gun that shoots rebar or it's just the future and there's a functional use for having 18-30 inch rebar sticks everywhere

Why didn't they bring back any of the cool weapons from HL1?
The tau cannon, the gluon gun, hivehand, snarks, electric roach, acid glob launcher, LMG, barnacle hand. Instead we just get your stock FPS weapons plus the gravity gun, which while cool, can only be used where there's objects to use it with and isn't that practical in most encounters.
