All gen 9 has to do is let you catch mons in the overworld. The trailers and documentation shows that the game will be open world as well. PLA is a tech demo and the fact that the new update adds virtually nothing is proof of that

Every single game apart from SWSH evolved from the previous game. PLA on the other hand was such a massive downgrade that it felt like a spinoff. It's literally a fucking tech demo, all PLA was good for was to test the waters with the open world cancer and catch mechanics. Now that people liked them, they can be brought to the actual games
