Realistically, how will Dragon's Dogma 2 be able to compete with Elden Ring?

It's entirely different game that's how you fucking retard.
Elden Ring scratches that Dragon's Dogma itch I've had for years, but the combat isn't as fun, and the magic isn't as impactful. Dragon's Dogma's best feature was the combat and magic system, all they have to do is bring that back with better polish and it'll compete well enough.
My main fear is that soulsfags will complain about their being no rolling, or an i-frame roll gets added to the sequel for every class and not just yellows
Ive had my eyes on DD since it seems like my kind of game, how is it as a game? It it long and gridy or short? Are there any mods for it that change the game?
>souls clone
>no innovation
>horribly optimized
>buggy as fuck
>unfinished mess
i really hope it doesn't
Easily since ER is trash.
If it's everything DD was originally supposed to be with modern visuals and mechanics it won't just manage to compete, it will BTFO.
>how is it as a game?
fun, but it really is one of those games that get better as you go on, although on my first playthrough I enjoyed myself a lot, I can hardly stomach subsequent playthroughs.
>It it long and gridy or short?
20 hours seems to be the average, excluding BBI endgame content, side quests, and the like. Not much grinding involved since stats are dependent on your gear, so you'll mainly want to treasure hunt. Until BBI at least.
>Are there any mods for it that change the game?
There is a very recent mod that adds a new monk class, aside from that, no.
Pawns make DD's combat way more fun. Plus the adventure aspect will likely be improved to compete with other contemporaries like BotW and Genshin Impact
By not having a empty soulless world for a start
dragons dogma is best described as the best worst game youll ever play or a game that by all accounts should be really bad but is somehow really fun. youll either hate it or love it. personally i thoroughly enjoyed it.
like the other user said, the story is pretty short and theres a ton of backtracking to areas youve been before, but it's not as bad now with all the teleport crystals youll get. the world feels big and small at the same time. i find the pawn system really neat and intricate and the pawns themselves very charming. game play between classes is very unique and game play over all is among the best in an action rpg ive ever played. tons of nooks and crannies in the world and lots of object interactions. character creation impacts your capabilities to an extent. it just has soul
Everytime I saw a goat or a large creature, I knew I couldn't grapple it and was instantly sad each time.
Dragon's Dogma is a 7/10 at best but the expansion Dark Arisen is an easy 10/10.
>Regarding content, this is what I always tell my team.
>If the player loses when he is attacked and killed, it is not okay if he throws the controller. This means the game wasn't made properly.
>The player won't think it's his fault but that it's because of the game, which is not good.
>When the player reaches game over, or when the player takes damage, we should make it so that he feels he is the one responsible.
>This is what we insist on.
It'll be fine.
>how is it as a game
good combat
fun pawn system
terrible story that wasn't finished
BBI will challenge you, you'll run into a lot of bullshit, and you'll honestly enjoy it
Overall an 8/10 game
I would give it a 9/10 because the missable stuff in the game made me feel like I needed to use a guide, and I hate using guides.
There's lots of shit people will miss in the game but none of that shit actually matters unless you want that person to be your romance partner
I beg of you, if you're going to play it for the first time please don't go in thinking it's the best game ever made because some over dramatic retards on Any Forums said so. Dragon's Dogma is a fantastic game, but it has a lot of flaws. The point here though is that those flaws are heavily outweighed by the games core mechanics and vistas - more importantly the DLC, Dark Arisen. You have to be able to deal with things that will annoy you on a smaller level while at the same time appreciating things on a much larger scale, if you can do that then you'll appreciate it as much as most others do without having to make out like it's a masterpiece
Doesn't matter because it's never ever going to happen.
It doesn't need to? They're not releasing at the same time and people will be ready for a new game by april.
uhhh theres rolling, just sprint and jump m8
