Windows 7 bros it's finally time for me to say goodbye. I don't want to switch to windows 10 but DX12 just keeps being used.

why don't you have multiple machines
go to linux and use vkd3d
Windows 11 is already out dumbass
I've tried this on rise and it's too broken. Maybe in another 5 years it'll be good.
Goodbye, Cirno.
Windows 10 will initially seem like aids but honestly once you turn off all the bullshit, run some scripts, and customize it to your liking its pretty comfy. I have very few issues with my Windows 10 install and I prefer it over my Windows 7 install. I am on 21h2 LTSC though so it is less insane than the normal installs since its enterprise edition, but still has a lot of bullshit initially.
he's reluctant to leave ancient fucking Windows 7 and you think he wants the LATEST version? lol
GNU/Linux is waiting for you, user.
Doesn't work for new dark souls sadly. And no, I'm not installing w10 before you start shit talking me.
If you don't have an SSD, get one ASAP. Windows 10 is mostly fine once you set shit up like said but on HDD its fucking horrible
someone in another thread linked a tool to bypass w10 and upgrade straight to w11 but I have no idea how to use it

are you sure about that?
I've been using Arch for awhile now and although I like it a lot and Proton is great, there's plenty of stuff I can't properly play on here. I'm sure OP is wanting to play Elden Ring or something which works well on linux so far but A LOT of AAA games are fucked and these are the ones most likely to require Windows 10+. Maybe Steam Deck will change this though.
Windows 11 is very similar to 10 but it has better window management, I don't see why you would take any other version. Plus it's been out for several months
Microsoft has the iso on their website, you just put it on a flash drive. But I had to make two partitions because you can't boot unless it's fat32 I think
Just grab a spare SSD, install windows 10 on it and dual boot.
new dark souls? Elden Ring is working on Linux now and even initially it would work, just only in offline mode.
I don't know what any of that means
Elden Ring even made me consider getting w10. So I got new ssd and figured I will set it up. But then I realized I don't really care and just plugged it to my w7 and installed new Atelier. Now I got more space for my games and all is good.
Yes, and shoot yourself on the foot while you're at it
You mean all that shit you have to do on a monthly basis, right?
Man it feels good not giving a shit about modern AAA trash. All I need is old Doujin games and I'm good to go. I will never have to leave 7. Fuck Elden Ring and fuck all you trend chasing normalfaggots hyping up the game
Good for him.
I didn't manage to get past white screen of death. Maybe cause it's cracked version, who knows.
Good thing google exists to help you
this. You wait until technology is mature enough before upgrading. I just updated to w10 this year, it works fine now, didn't get to have my files deleted or installation broken by updates :)
I also switch from Windows 7 a month ago. I'm not very happy about it.
Yeah I want to stay on w7 too. I hope there gonna be ways to install it on future hardware.
is there a LTSC version of Win 11 yet?
is LTSC in general worth it for gaymin because of less bloatware?
an api translation layer is going to result in some performance loss in the best case. In the worst case it could also introduce graphical fuckery
Monthly basis? Absolutely not, but as I said I'm on LTSC so maybe its different.
