No. People like this are arguably the majority of the Paper Mario fanbase now, they've clearly won. All you need to do is compare the initial reception to the announcement of Color Splash to that of the announcement of The Origami King. I was around for both and they were completely different despite their problems being mostly the same.

True, and sadly it's like that everywhere now, even here. Just look at how some people reacted when it was discovered that the "new" Mario Kart DLC is actually all just mobile game ports. Sadly I think this is just how it's going to be so long as Nintendo is successful. It was different during the Wii U era because outside of the 3DS they were fucking up pretty bad.

Well yeah, if they just outright went and said "We are going to charge you $24.99 for assets that were ripped from a mobile game with zero changes at all" I imagine the backlash would've been pretty bad. Thankfully for them, not that many people play Tour and not every course they showed off had been added to Tour at the time of announcement, so they can just say "Oh yeah we were working hard on remastering these" and people who aren't in the know will just believe it.
