metro and stalker aren't at all alike though? Only thing they have in common is soviet era architecture

atmosphere in the stalker games is almost always the #1 thing that gets praised. Also the fact that the world goes on without the player, you will see animals and mutants fighting each other or a stalker group you might have seen a few moments ago might now be fighting a bandit group and then it's up to the player how to react. Definitely worth getting into, at least Call of pripyat and stalker shadow of chernobyl are. Clear sky is a bit of a mixed bag

m8 stalker is one of the few games that has satisfying gunplay
