No, you did by playing draw cards or stall cards. On it's own Claw is really bad. You need a lot of other stuff to make it work, and that other stuff also helps every other deck in the game just as much.

The only card that doesn't help other Defect damage engines that you could draft in a Claw deck as a support card, is Scrape. But then, if your deck has other cards it may want to play the first time through besides Claw, or want to draw a card that is actually going to block for any reasonable amount, Scrape is kind of ass.
Claw is fun and can legitimately be the correct choice for a draft sometimes, but Defect is often times better served picking other cards. I think the only times I've been happy to see Claw is when I hit something like whale bonus ninja relic, or have zero scaling but a decent amount of card draw by the time I hit something like Hexaghost, though you'll still likely be dead if you only have the one Claw and one Skim+.
