What does it mean for the future of Nintendo and the industry?

Nothing. But
>Toshihiko Nakago is the Representative Director and President of Systems Research and Development, a company that primarily programs for Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development video games. He has worked with Nintendo since the days of the Famicom, and has worked on such titles as Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. Currently, he serves mostly as a supervisor and advisor for various games on the The Legend of Zelda, New Super Mario Bros., and Wii Fit franchises which are programmed by SRD.

>Satoru Iwata, former president of Nintendo, explained that he, Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka are often viewed as a dream team within the company, as they have worked together for more than 30 years, with most of their video games becoming huge successes. As Iwata explained, they are a "Golden Triangle".
Soul.

I wonder what made them buy SRD now when they were working together for 40 years

Probably has to do with their recent expansions of all their divisions. Might of wanted to help expand SRD but didn't want to deal with money transfer from one company to another.

It says it in the document, it's pretty arbitary, they just want to integrate them for efficiency purposes as well as secure access to all the companies resources, I'd be surprised if any of their resources were used outside of Nintendo, the companies staff work inside Nintendo's offices, probably paid for by Nintendo as well, the acquisition is tiny, Nintendo are maybe paying less than 1 million for them.

first-party help

Huh I guess Nintendo will start buying and integrating their partners after all, i wonder who's next and will they also buy gamefreak and creatures?

They are probably going to buy HAL and Monolith,at least thats what I think

>and the industry?
It means jackshit for the industry, though it guarantees Nintendo expands first party output. They already voiced their want to not rely on third parties for first party output (Warriors games, FE, etc.), this just emphasizes that need to expand.

The only other realistic acquisitions would be something like Hal, which worked with them since forever aswell. Platinum is never happening since they don't want to just make exclusive games for Nintendo's underpowered systems

They already own Monolith user

the incredibly tangled mess of pokemon's three to four way ownership might not even be worth outright purchasing

>spoiler
Does Platinum want to exist? Because they're not doing so great without Nintendo's money.
Nintendo wouldn't want the anyway, since Platinum has zero IPs.

But they already own monolith, they have 14 partners according to the wiki but 2 are mobile devs which I doubt they will even want and 2 are gamefreak and creatures which both own a part of pokemon, they probably wouldn't be cheap to buy so that why I'm asking

What it means. We will never ever get a new F zero.

>buying a company whose HQ is literally inside Nintendo HQ
Why

Ah I didn't know they already owned monolite,my bad. Then what are they going to buy?HAL and Intelligent Systems maybe?

cuts down on bureaucracy

No point in doing so. HAL and IS' biggest titles are Nintendo IPs.

Probably to secure key partners in the light of aggressive expansions from other publishers.

>Then what are they going to buy
Game Freak and Creatures to obtain full ownership of Pokémon. Fuck TPC.

this, although whether it's for self preservation or to make themselves look like an even more complete package, it's hard to say.

>and Monolith,
Why do you people think monolith is third party? They've owned them for over 20 years now.

user, tpc would still exist.
It's literally a management company made up of Nintendo, GF and Creatures employees.
