For as much shit as Adventures gets, I think having the on rails shooting part being relegated to a travel mini game was a good call. That concept is way too simple to justify being used for an entire game. As for the main game, I think a cover based shooter would be a good niche for starfox to fill. Nintendo doesn't really have anything like that.
