why can't pokemon clones into good monster design?

the majority of these designs just ooze that "fakemon" feel
not independent enough to be it's own thing, but not good enough at copying pokemon to be convincing. sad

Looks fun.

plenty of them have good monster designs
you're just using pokemon as the sole standard for everything

Why can't pokemon?

calyrex is one of the worst pokemon designs but it is still better than anything in the op video

Pokefags have no room to talk about monster design

Cool. I beta tested this in the app store a while ago and I loved it. I'm glad it's finally complete.

Monster design is unironically pretty complicated, and japanese artists are good at it because their pop culture is full of mascots. Americans and Europeans don't have that culture, so they're usually starting from scratch, plus they also have different design philosophies when it comes to art (more detail = better is common in the west)

Making Pokemon-esque monster designs that aren't Pokemon is a lot harder than people think.

Also, there are official Pokemon designs that suck shit, so what difference does it make? Gamefreaku smarr indie studio or something

looks kino

I like that design.

the west did make decent fakemon and they werent even in a game
also see monster rancher and other "cult" japanese monster games for ugly jp designs

>indie game has more competent sprite animations than gen 5 made by multibillion company

Now I want a monster taming game with all these Stitch designs wtf

Sprite work looks really good.

I did too! Had some fun with this and really enjoyed the pixel art.

not a big fan

Played the beta for this didnt like it felt slow and clunky and the monster designs are meh.

>All octopuses look the same

And you zoomers have been saying Grimer and Muk are generic designs for years, yet somehow now a slime monster rips him off?

the point is that the designs are nowhere near as appealing, actually.
sorry the point went over your head

Yes because its blatantly Muk with 4 arms they look extremely similar, similar pose also its such a in your face rip off.

LOL IT HAS RANDOM ENCOUNTERS? ITS SHIT ITS SHIT ITS SHIT

I WANT EMPTY MONS IN A FIELD THAT I CATCH USING MOBILE GAME MECHANICS LOL

You're literally retarded if you believe that

>more detail = better is common in the west
You haven't actually talked to any designers or artists have you.

>more detail = better is common in the west
The west invented calarts style

I have played a huge number of monster franchises in my life and I am struggling to think of any individual monster I've seen that's less appealing than Calyrex

>I am struggling to think of any individual monster I've seen that's less appealing than Calyrex
any digimon

I can tell from your comment that you haven't

Tsareena

Digimon objectively has better designs than Pokemon

>Digimon is a Japanese franchise
>Makes 90% of their designs look like this
(not an insult though, I fuckin love Digimon)

Attached: bans62023_0.png (1200x769, 1.58M)

go home digifag

Even in "Calarts" animation, westerners still add details that nips don't necessarily, like these wrinkles

fuck you

youtu.be/MuhkUzGAeHA

To be fair though, they were gunning for the western male market at first

>Muh safe space

What's the matter, afraid of having your bad opinions about monster design challenged?

pokemon designs are good, digimon designs are dogshit. these aren't opinions it's just the truth. i'm just tired of seeing digimonfags shit up the board with their inferiority complex.

>Pokemon designs are good

dude look at the top of his head, look his legs

why does gen 8 have such low quality designs

>60% of the times they look like this all the time.

why does gen 8 have such low quality everything?

honestly a lilo and stitch pokemon clone would probably be sweet
