>played as a kid

>get to come back to it fresh
Stronghold, anybody?
Played as a kid
Stronghold is one of the comfiest games I've ever played
stronghold is one of the games that i've played decades ago
Same thing with AOE 2, uninstalled in 30minutes man it's janky
I wouldn't say janky, just aged. I was surprised how many things were tied to holding down right mouse
>that fucking Pig Siege mission
>a second siege of the same castle a few missions later
It was pure suffering, I have no idea how a retarded 15y old version of me beat all this shit.
Damn, I thought this was just a general crpg thread.
AOE2 is tight though, not jank. MP scene alive and growing in DE.
Stronghold is one of the games of all time
When playing it recently I thought "man it would be cool if this game got a sequel with like ages and tech trees and shit, improving your walls by adding machicolations, upgrading your economy etc."
Imagine if every game in a series improved upon the previous ones
Try the economic campaign too
the people LOVE you sire
I'm still stuck in the second siege mission, wish me luck
>aoe2
>janky
this is the first time ive ever heard this complaint about aoe2.
On the hardest difficulty you have to do some retarded one by one micromanagement of your units
I tried to play I think 2 and wasn't able to care, has the series improved much? I really liked Crusader.
original game is better than crusader
defending and building up a sweet castle against attackers is more fun than trying to play starcraft against another castle
economic scenarios are comfy as fuck
OST of the original is way better than crusader
fighting in the desert constantly is gay
not being able to build farms wherever you want is gay
in short: Stronghold HD > Stronghold Crusader HD
it's only hard because AI of moat fillers is retarded
How fucking hard could it be to do a proper 2D sequel? Enough with the 3D, it's obviously beyond their capabilities!
the mission where you need to take the pigs (swines?) castle filtered me, mission 18 i believe
12 year old me just couldnt do it
then cheated to unlock the last two missions
then immediately lost all interest
>Stronghold is one of the games of all time
Can't argue with that
>then cheated to unlock the last two missions
>then immediately lost all interest
Many such cases. Sad!
code archeology is perhaps one of the most under-appreciated skills
this is why old games are always ported intact or rebuild from scratch
unless you have the original devs you probably aren't getting someone who can figure out the ancient code of the game
even if you do have the original devs there is no guarantee they remember or feel like figuring out what they did 20 years ago.
Same.
They don't make 'em like they used to anymore.
