Victory washes away any dishonour iirc, so you can literally anything if you win in the end. Even then, Isshin based his style on "you can use anything" anyway. I'm more interested in how he got a multishot gun in Sengoku era.

Honorable means accomplishing your mission no matter what it takes. It would be dishonourable to fail and bring shame upon who you are serving/protecting. Also guns existed during that time period.
