It's a late game spoiler, but if you don't mind, you could just look for a video or something that shows Gin's later character event. The JP VA does indeed say "no-gender" or something like that.

It's weird, but I wouldn't consider myself quite enough of a sperg to get upset when people have differing beliefs.
No, but it does reference the first game somewhat often, and lessens the arcs of a couple characters (and retroactively spoils something).
You'll be fine if you can't put up with 1 being kind of rough but I would recommend at least giving it a go.
