It sets pacing and tension. Even re1 mansion feels small as fuck when you mod the doors out, and game becomes a lot more actiony in feel

I recently played a few days ago and finished it. I had not played it since 2006. Back then it scared me but I also remember being immersed in it. This last time however it was no longer scary but I still liked it enough to finish the whole thing without needing to rush through any of it. I say it still holds up well. RE2 is more of RE1 but that's not a bad thing. RE3 Nemesis is significantly different and for the better.

I don't think there's really a single recycled asset in the OG trilogy. They're all great games with tons and tons of replay value.

Don't listen to this advice. Play the PS1 versions emulated on your choice of accurate emulator. If you can, get the real hardware and play it on a real CRT.
